I co-led delivery of some workshops for activists and community organizers in secondary cities such as Indore and Ranchi. The programmes were funded by various development agencies and focused on developing the understanding the technical aspects of town planning, land use and tenure systems, and housing schemes and programmes. The aim of the programme was to enhance the capacity of the audience to take the insights to their own communities.
- About 45 community organizers and activists trained over 3 workshops
- Developed detailed profiles of the audience’s cities, including information on planning processes and status, housing schemes and land tenure systems
We were able to significantly enhance community organizers’ and activists’ understanding of technical concepts and jargon related to planning and land use, including the capacity to think spatially. We extended our capacity building programme’s reach into the civil society sector, and demonstrated a scalable model of capacity building by designing and delivering the programmes in a training-of-trainers mode.
