I led the development of process maps that would streamline the implementation of the state’s mission to provide liveable habitats to its slum dwellers. The approach was centred on building local capacity of ULB officials, slum dwellers, and other stakeholders to be able to execute the process without external aid.
- Process maps, including spatial maps of upgrading priorities in two slums of Dhenkanal city, Odisha
- Template-based community-led development projects for slum areas
Some elements of the process map were selected by the Government of Odisha in the scaling up the programme across the state. The pilot programme, led by us, enhanced local capacity to assess, address and implement key issues in slum areas. We also expanded IIHS’s engagement with the state of Odisha and the field of slum upgrading.
