Geetika Anand is a doctoral researcher at the University of Cape Town (UCT), focussing on practice biographies and learning trajectories of urban development practitioners in Southern cities. Working with the Indian Institute for Human Settlements (IIHS) since 2010, she is currently a researcher on the Knowledge in Action for Urban Equality (KNOW) programme, exploring the potential of urban planning education in addressing issues of urban inequality in Asian and African cities. Trained in Urban Planning, Social Policy and Urban Studies, Geetika has over 14 years of experience in the urban development sector spanning across capacity development, master planning, development management, housing, water and sanitation. She has worked with various government agencies, development authorities, education institutions, NGOs, private sector and local communities. She has a special interest in field-based learning and has been part of studio teaching at the School of Planning and Architecture, IIHS and the UCT.
