I co-led a major revision of the state’s affordable housing policy to integrate it with Central government missions. We also developed the institutional governance structure for the policy and proposed an implementation plan with priorities, models, and financial outlays.
- The revised policy was notified by the state government in 2016
- The final policy document is available at this link on the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs’ (MoHUA) webpage called Knowledge Lab
- Implementation plan and institutional structure
The state government notified the revised policy, that included a set of committee structures for the governance of the policy as per our recommendations. We were able to restructure the aims and objectives of state housing development agencies. The government also agreed to expand the allocations to the state’s urban housing initiatives in budgets and enhance their implementation capacities. We were able to significantly deepen our engagement with the Government of Karnataka, as well as an ecosystem of stakeholders in the housing sector, including civil society, private enterprise and academia.
